ScamBlocker warns subscribers about accessing known or suspected fraudulent URLs that mimic legitimate Web sites and are intent on stealing personal information.
ScamBlocker helps stop criminal activity from propagating across the Internet. Customers that receive emails suspected of containing phisher site URLs can immediately send them to EarthLink for real-time evaluation.
The application enables customers to analyze individual e-mails and rate the safety level of each message before clicking on an embedded hyperlink.
"Consumers need all the protection they can get against the increasing number of online scams and threats when sending and receiving emails," said Kevin Brand, EarthLink's vice president of product management. "By combining ScamBlocker with spamBlocker and Virus Blocker, EarthLink subscribers have three of the most powerful protection features available to consumers in a single, easy-to-use e-mail application."
Other features in the EarthLink MailBox include real time search functionality, eight e-mail addresses per account, and 100 MB of storage for each e-mail address.

ScamBlocker launched last year as an application in the EarthLink Toolbar, which is free to any Internet user, not just EarthLink access subscribers. To date, over 1.3 million consumers have downloaded ScamBlocker. Non-EarthLink access subscribers can download the toolbar by going to http://www.earthlink.net/earthlinktoolbar
