In conducting reviews of numerous service provider networks, Cloudmark noted that, on average, over 50% of messages on existing mail stores is comprised of spam missed by legacy technology.

The Cloudmark StorageScan service can provide an automatic rescan of stored messages to effectively delete all known spam from storage, relieving burden on the message stores, the webmail server, and the storage area network, as well as simplifying maintenance tasks as number of items in the message store is significantly reduced.

"Effective storage scanning is possible when service providers can be assured of a high rate of accuracy and fast performance scanning, two areas where Cloudmark continuously demonstrates leadership. Our near-zero false positive rate means that service providers can reduce their stored messages with confidence, knowing that only those messages that are truly identified as spam will be deleted. Cloudmark's high performing scanning engine allows large message stores to be scanned quickly, without bogging down existing systems," commented Jamie de Guerre, director of partner program management at Cloudmark. "This service will enable service providers to increase the storage size they provide to customers without needing to make nearly as significant trade-offs with storage cost," he added.
